Yang to Yin Yoga
From Power to Peace: Originating in ancient Chinese philosophy, yin and yang is the concept that cosmic forces that are opposites but complementary exist, interact, interconnect, support and perpetuate each other. Both parts are essential and part of the whole, and when merged they create a dynamic, healthy system. In this summer intensive course you will practice yoga with yin and yang as the foundational principle. You will begin each class with the yang - active movements, powerful breathwork, and challenging yoga postures and flows to invigorate your body and mind. Around the 45 minute mark, you will then shift into the yin - calming movements and breathing practices to ease your body and mind into meditation and long but gentle stretches. Supplied props include yoga mats, straps, and blocks. It is suggested to bring a blanket to class. This class pairs well with the course Ashtanga Power Yoga: The Primary Series.
